The Refuge formed in 2014 in Apollo Bay, Victoria, Australia as a rock band with members Riley Newton (lead vocal/lead guitar), Noa Matthews (rhythm/lead guitar), Houston Walters (drums), Jackson Hayat (keyboard) and Leon Kennedy (bass). All members were 14 years old when the band formed. After forming Riley started writing songs for the band, then on some songs, Noa also started writing riffs with Riley to bring an extra flavour to The Refuge. On the 23rd of January 2016 the band released thier first full album "Jet Stream", the album included 13 rock songs. The Refuge on stage, put on a high energy rock show. Getting influences from classic rock bands from the 70's and grunge bands from the 90's, the band also plays blues and funk with a rock style. Then in may of 2016 Houston Walters (drums) decided to leave the band. Leon Kennedy became drummer and Cameron Potter became bass player.
